Another Advocate for the Duplication of Train Lines from St Marys To Penrith - Mount Druitt Commuters Improvement Group

The pinch point in the Western Sydney rail network. Four tracks merge into two tracks at St Marys up to Wallerawang past Lithgow.
The two tracks between Penrith and St Marys carry suburban trains, interurban trains, country trains and freight trains and is already at capacity. The Government wants to add 8 more services to this line. Without two additional lines as first proposed in 1955 it will be a tight squeeze to fit these extra services.

Lester Pasley The Western line between Parramatta and Penrith was electrified in 1955. Four tracks were planned and Overhead for two additional tracks strung along between Blacktown and Penrith. The additional Overhead still remains between St Marys and Penrith.

Two additional tracks built between Westmead and Blacktown in 1955 with a passing loop at Rooty Hill.

Two additional tracks built between Granville and Parramatta, Parramatta and Westmead and Blacktown and St Marys and one additional track between Seven Hills and Blacktown in 1980.

Two tracks remain between St Marys and Penrith.

What is required for additional services?

Two additional tracks between St Marys and Penrith.

A third track (turn back) at Emu Plains for terminating trains. Terminated trains currently sit on the Main Line waiting to return to the City and while they sit on the Main Line they block any capacity for increased services to the Blue Mountains. The remnants of the siding to the Emu Plains Gravel Quarry remains at Emu Plains and can be refurbished for the turn back.

Proposed Rail Routes In Western Sydney For The Western Sydney Airport Site - Western Sydney Rail

So with the proposed Western Sydney Airport in Badgerys Creek, we spoke before how there needs to be proper infrastructure built to support the airport. It will be from roads, footpaths,  communities and even new rail  access routes interconnecting or looping into the Sydney Trains Rail network system.

There are a few options  provide by  Western Sydney Rail to  provide rail routes to  various  current railway lines (as per below). Yet, I do think while we are talking, planning and discussing new rail networks. Let's actually put into place a major new railway network link straight away linking the Northwest Link and South Westlink though Marsden Park, Ropes Crossing, St Marys, providing that extra option for community members around  my suggestion of  this railway network link and then  choose the below  railway option routes for the Western Sydney Airport.

Ropes Crossing is a  new Fire Station that was  based in Dunheved before and now relocated. This new  fire station will support the local brigrades from St Marys and Mount Druitt. I wish Mount Druitt and St Marys one looked so modern.

Travelling Train Whispers......From A St Marys Commuter!

It is so good that people people I speak too, are mostly strangers and by speaking to strangers, you can either leave them feeling, sad, bad, happy or eager to talk to yourself again. If I don't see them again, we have strike a conversation that may have sparked  further conversation or even in my case, a published blog.

Today, it was a tense situation that I spoke to a really tired St Marys Train Commuter, who catches trains from Circular Quay to work. It looked like, she wished it 'was Friday today', or is this weeks case, 'Wednesday'. The issue was a non-issue. She allowed myself to sit on the window side of a train carriage seat (I always wonder, why people don't move from the center of the seat to the window, to allow people to sit down), yet 'When asked which train station she was getting off?' with a reply from her as, 'It doesn't matter!' Which is quite right, when I think about it!

So as we made great conversation, this wonderful lady commuter from St Marys suggested that on days like today, when Sydney Trains used Saturday Time tables with extra services for Peak Times, they should charge Saturday/Weekend rates. The time tables for trains from 29/12/14 to and including 2/1/2015 is Saturday time tables as a lot of businesses and government departments have reduce staff levels.

The suggestion from the St Marys Commuter lady is a good idea as it means possibly Sunday rates of $2.50 could be charged in this end of year season, which would  financially assist commuters in and around Mount Druitt.
