Living in and around Mount Druitt, there are plenty of sports that we can join as a player and/or as a spectator. There are plenty of sports clubs and grounds we have to train for as well. One of the sports that was never a sport in NSW, is Australian Football League (AFL) and Australian Football League Women. (AFLW).
In my young days, is was called 'Arial Ping Pong'. South Melbourne Club started 18th June 1874
In 1982, the South Melbourne AFL team relocated to Sydney and was known as 'Sydney Swans'. Swans won a few finals and then the AFL board realised that Sydney needed a second team. Then came The Greater Western Sydney Giants Team also known as GWS giants in 2012. They were the 18th Team in the AFL national competition Click here on the history of the club .
The GWS Giants have had great history, since their entry into the AFL. They do represent Western Sydney, so if you want to provide support to an AFL Team and you haven't - give them a try.

AFL Western Sydney Giants Promoting Membership Druve for 2018
When we talk about sports, there are many sporting events to attend and participate. Every child should be given an opportunity, in they so want so.
One of the sports, where Western Sydney has really come from bottom of table to ending up in the top 4 at end of season in such a short space of time and history is the National AFL (Australian Football League) competition, where the Western Sydney Giants are getting close to winning a major premiership. Yet, although most of our community are A League or Rugby League supporters,, and then support other sports as well, AFL which originated in Victoria has been really spreading their wings into enemy ARL and A-League Territory.
So while the Western Sydney Giants are on a high roller hoping to reach finals, this may be a good time for you to join up on the membership and support games.

Great Western Sydney AFL Supporters - Even One Supporter (At least) From Mount Druitt!
We do not talk about this sport much, maybe because we have many codes of 'football' running around in Australia and Mount Druitt. AFL (Australian Football League) also known as 'Aussie Rules' is an up and coming sport in the Greater Western Sydney that is competing against other football codes.
Although, it is not a sport that has a wide world competition and fame, it is one of the winter sports that has the highest amount of spectators in total at each game.
Originally a Melbourne based sport, with promotion of the VFL turned to AFLsport on commercial based black and white TV in the early days, the expansion of clubs in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane. Now the expansion of the sport, in Sydney's Greater West after 30 years of establishing a Sydney Swans Team is a litmus test against other sports, to see what sports will survive and grow.
So the new AFL Team in Sydney for the last 4 years, GWS Giants (Greater Western Sydney Giants) is now spreading it's good fortune to the people of Mount Druitt and Greater Western Sydney. Players that were unknown are being known.
Myself, I have switched my support from Sydney Swans to GWS Giants as a spectator and am enjoying it. I've always liked 'the underdog'! This year, so far winning 11 games - I had never thought they would win past 8 games this year. The Coach, Leon Cameron has a great gift to make these young men be the best of the best, with training grounds at Rooty Hill, we are so close to the playing club. Although the crowds are reasonable at average 18,716 per game 2015, compared to 15,903 in 2012 Check here .
So here is a small example of a GWS Promotion released recently, where a Mount Druitt community member shows his pride in his team:
