Sydney Alliance Widens Membership

Good news - we’ve made it much easier for smaller-medium sized organisations and individuals to join the Sydney Alliance.
The Alliance is growing. If you've been considering stepping up as an individual or joining up your organisation to the Alliance, now is a great time to be part of the efforts for the common good.
We are stronger together, whether on-
Work - protecting our weekends and public holidays,
Power - affordable & renewable energy,
Homes - affordable & stable housing,
Heart - a city that welcomes people seeking refuge and welcome.
Or on hundreds of local issues across Sydney.
In fact, the Alliance is preparing Postcode2020, a people-powered listening campaign, across hundreds of Sydney's postcodes next year. You can be part of it!
If you're interested in how you, or your community group, church, union, mosque, synagogue, temple, organisation or school can join up let's get a coffee. Email me on dbarrow@sydneyalliance.org.au
Yours,
David Barrow

Saving Someone's Life - Rachel - Face Book Friend

Sometimes, you don't know  when and how you can save people's life with mental and health issues. They can be emotionally distressed or they they may not show and  come out to you and trust you  with what is worrying them or making them feel sad or depressed.

I have written, spoken and touched on this before on different past posts and when a person come to you with this, they are expecting answers and solutions. This may be difficult to answer them but we are not here to answer - we are here to support them: give them positive  details of life,  set positive goals and offer the best support we can, yet there are times they may need further assistance and the best this is to refer them to the following as Rachel a local riend of Face Book did it:

Lifeline Australia :13 11 14
Beyond Blue: 1300 224 636
Kids Helpline: 1800 551 800
Veterans  and Veterans Counseling Service: 1800 011 046
"A simple copy and paste might save someone's life....
I did it, will you?"

'If You Want To Change The Community, Change Yourself And The Community Will Change!' - Mount Druitt Community Member

Most of us find it difficult to accept changes in our own lives, within our own community. That could be because we are accustomed to the old ways and surroundings, as we ask ourselves, why the change?

Some of us will challenge the change and the rest of us will accept them, without hesitation! I'm sure there are many things this blogspot has asked for with all kinds of improvements. When they have changed the community for improvements, people feel and accept the positive out it has of life them.

As each person migrates, as as new child is born within our communities, so it is important that we know that we have to accommodate and plan for not only our current growing population but for our precious future population. More soever adequate and proper infant ,primary, secondary, tertiary education and assistance with roads, footpaths, shopping centres, housing, parks, reserves, public transport infrastructure, medical facilities, legal system and other essential community services. The idea of proper careful planning is making sure that every single person is catered and count for all essential needs of community life to succeed and be fulfilled.

So the reason why I am discussing this, simply is although this blog was supposed to be published nearly a week ago, a community member called Dishan from Mount Druitt, made a powerful statement that took myself by surprise, something that reflects on each and every one of us that talk to each other, within our own community.

'If you change the community, change yourself and the community will follow!'

I also have a special phrase that I tell everyone, as a majority of people think that it is hopeless to seek good improvements for the community, the thought is a lost cause. It is a lost cause if nothing is done about it!

'It takes the voice of one person to change the world by talking to another person; once a person talks to one person of  improvements required and the the other talks to another person, the word spreads!'

Self-Advertisng For "Why I Love Mount Druitt'!

Unknown elderly Mount Druitt male model is modelling the  new 'Why I Love Mount Druitt' T-Shirt. I'm sure that there will be a rush to purchase these T-Shirts as they go onto better looking other models.

If you see this male model walking or running around, say 'hello', to him and tell him why you love Mount Druitt? You'll be amazed how passionate he is for and towards the Mount Druitt and our surrounding community! Just like you, he cares about the community, will voluntarily provide his time to assist community  members, stake holders in getting the positive direction of where  improvements of the community need to be!

He madly calls himself a 'blogger' as he publishes important stories, information and recommendations for community physical improvement is what he is passionate about. He speaks to strangers, they voice their opinion, suggestion, place comments on blogs and email suggestions for community improvements. He knows local politicians reasonably well and journalists from local news will  contact him and seeks local community comment on important stories.
