Blacktown City Council - Media Release - New Doonside Playground Opens

MEDIA RELEASE
Description: Description: BCC Logo 2007 Ver - Coloured - Outline Text

20 June 2018

Doonside locals are enjoying a new and improved playground in their suburb after Doonside Heights Park received a $113,000 upgrade.
Blacktown City Mayor Stephen Bali MP said this Doonside playground is one of many playgrounds to receive a facelift as part of Council’s ongoing renewal program.
“Playgrounds are vital to our community. They contribute to our lifestyle, and provide valuable spaces for children to play and learn,” Mayor Bali said.
“Blacktown City has recognised this importance by allocating funding to upgrades for several parks across the city every year, including at Doonside Heights Park.”
Council undertook a consultation workshop with Crawford Public School students and consulted with the surrounding community for the Doonside Heights Park.
“Community views played a significant role in designing the playground and choosing the equipment,” Mayor Bali said.
“The park features a range of equipment including a flying fox, pod swing, carousel, swing set, springers and a trampoline.
George Alder Reserve in Quakers Hill, Thomas Kelly Street Park in Lalor Park, Prospect Park in Prospect, Azzopardi Street Park in Glendenning and Willmot Reserve in Willmot, will all receive upgrades in the coming months.

Here is the Hard Copy Petition For 100% Airconditioned Trains and Buses For Public Transport Commuters Within Mount Druitt & Surrounding Suburbs

So after careful thought and consideration and with discussions with local Councillors, community members, NSW TWU officials, great local officials from Hon. Edmond Atalla's Office and NSW Law Access, I am launching the 'Mount Druitt" and surrounding suburbs '100% air-conditioned buses and trains required' Petition.

This petition, will be supported by a local group, 'Mount Druitt Commuters Improvement Group Inc.', 'Whyilovemountdruitt' Blogspot and Face Book  Group, NSW Transport Workers Union (TWU), Counillor Carol Israel, Brad Bunting, Blacktown City Councillors, A former Blacktown City Councillor, Blacktown City Council Transport/Traffic Department, Hon. Edmond Atalla, NSW State Member of Mount Druitt, Mount Druitt Standard and with the huge favourable support from within our local community members as well.

Once we have more people that want to stake their claim for support, I will update our community.

Whilst in one local Face Book Group, there appears an old attitude of "Nothing will happen as they don't care of Mount Druitt", I always remind people of what happened in 2009-2010 when we had 3 bus services removed from our very own area.

The perception and mood of the time was the same. Yet with the support from within our then group,"Save Our Bus Services, Mount Druitt & Surrounding Suburbs' and my idol from the group and loal Legend Joan Forrester, our group achieved local history.

Never in Mount Druitt history was anything achieved to return not 1 but 2 major bus services to our Mount Druitt community. People rallied and people cheered and most importantly people were happy.

Petition Day will be held in the future and you will see myself around seeking thousands of local community members to sign this petition as we raise 10,000 signatures. Should any community members print off these petition copies, please note they must be hand delivered completed to the Hon Edmond Atalla, NSW State Member of Mount Druitt Atalla Office details:
Suite 201,

Westfield Shopping Town
Carlisle Avenue
Mount Druitt MSW 2770

If the signed petition is not completed correctly, then that signature will not count. It is important to check that the name is in full (Not just initialled), address is completed and is signed correctly.
We will need at least 10,000 signatures before it can be referred to NSW Parliament, so every signature we get will be one closer reaching that goal.

This is up to our community to take this relevant action on this issue as soon as possible and not let it drag on.

Let Mount Druitt Shine - 2770 Chat & Watch Face Book Group

Here is a locally produced video that seems be professionally produced and as stated by the publisher, Saad Adam:
Life stories of individual residents living in a western sydney suburb and the stigma they hold throughout their lives.

I cannot wait for these other videos to happen!

New 2770 Watch Group on Face Book

It appears that with Face Book social media anyone can start a social group and anyone (in Admin) can close it.  As a community group, people talk to each other and need to respect each other, as far as I am concerned. It should get to a stage where there is swearing or threats made, we are all decent respectable human beings.

Anyway that aside it was a shame that  2770 Watch has got a new page and has the word Community on its illustration, currently less than 300 members. Here is Click Here

Also 2770 Community Notice Board  changed name to 2770 Chat and Watch!

It would be hard to keep up with groups if they come and go on social media. 'Whyilovemountdruitt' has only 46 face book members at present and is growing at a small rate. I would never pull this group out of Face book as we have members that talk pleasantly towards each other!
