Invitation To The 2019 Coral McLean Awards - Ed Husic - Federal MP for Chifley

I’d like to invite you to join us as we celebrate the 2019 Coral McLean Awards with special guest speaker Linda Burney MP. 

Linda’s career began as a teacher at Lethbridge Park Public School. She has since become the first Aboriginal person to be elected to the NSW Parliament and the first Aboriginal woman to serve in the Australian House of Representatives.

The Awards are an opportunity to say thank you to a range of hard working women who help improve the quality of life in neighbourhoods across our area. And there’s no better role model to name the Awards after than the late Coral McLean – known to many as the ‘Mother of Mount Druitt’ for her tireless community work.

Nominations are still open therefore, if you wish to nominate an inspiring women, please complete the form HERE and return by 13 March.

Venue: Create Restaurant at Mount Druitt TAFE, North Parade, Mount Druitt
Cost: $20 per person (All proceeds raised will be donated to Marrin Weejali’s women’s domestic violence group. You may wish to pay cash on the morning or we can send you an invoice).

Every year, through the Coral McLean Awards, we celebrate the outstanding achievements of local Chifley women. I’m writing to you to see if you know an inspiring woman who deserves to be recognised for her contribution to your school and our community.  If you do, I’d appreciate it if you could please fill in the nomination form here. Nominations close at5:00pm on Wednesday, 13 March 2019. To submit the form, please email to contact@edhusic.com, fax to 9832 2641 or post to PO Box 259, Mount Druitt NSW 2770. Three categories will be awarded; the Coral McLean Award, Chifley Woman of the Year Award and Young Chifley Woman of the Year Award. Further details on the criteria can be found on the nomination form otherwise, feel free to give my office a call if you have any questions. The Coral McLean Awards are dedicated in memory of Coral McLean, known to many as the ‘Mother of Mt Druitt’. Coral helped establish the Mt Druitt and Area Community Legal Centre and was one of the founders of the Mt Druitt Reconciliation Group, helping pioneer the annual Reconciliation Walk.
