Today, being the last day of 2014, we wish the community of Mount Druitt, friends and family as well as Blacktown City Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors of Ward 4 and 5, Council Officers, NSW State Members of Parliament, Federal Member of Parliament  and all visitors to the the area a safe and prosperous New Year 2015.o

William Mason Reserve, North Mount Druitt - 'Swamp Patch' of Grass Created In Part Of Playing Field!

When we look at parks and gardens, we sometimes note that there has been freshly cut grass. For this reason, at this point, we want to say we 'thank you'  and provide a compliment to Blacktown City Council Mayor, Councillors and Officers for organising this as quick as possible. The grass was getting long, with the hot and wet weather we have had recently.

What is happening at William Mason Reserve, North Mount Druitt is that there a 'Swamp shape' patch of grass not mowed, for no known reason. The issue is that patch could be used for the community, to play sports, run, cycle and get fit. Can't do that in that patch. We will ask Blacktown City Council (via this published blog) the reason why this 'Swamp Patch' of grass is left to grow and not be mowed.  You can see for yourself, what we are talking about. It is suppose to be a playing field for the community, even though there is one on the southern side of William Mason Reserve, North Mount Druitt.

Leaving the patch of grass as a 'Swamp Patch' can promote rats, cockroaches and I believe possibly snakes living in this area (as I have been advised snakes have been seen in this area years ago)!

Once we receive a response, we will inform the community.

Mount Druitt Asian Butcher And Seafood Shop In Dawson Mall - Still Smells Badly!

As you walk past the Mount Druitt Asian Butcher and Seafood, along Dawson Mall, still has bad stench smells, every time you walk past it. Their renovation is complete and the floors have been lifted. 
 
There is a cow sign/logo in front of the shop should be a 'Bull' instead as so far, this is all we getting from this business, since re-opened. Westfield Mount Druitt Management - should reconsider their lease application, next time it is up for renewal and Health Inspectors must walk past and smell how bad it is.  See how long they can breathe in that smell, it is a health issue, not taken serious as yet!

There are quite a lot of other people within the community with the same feelings as mine. Really, it should be closed and placed in the Westfield Mount Druitt Center, not exposing it to the wider outside  community, making them smell this awful stench of a smell!

I haven't checked the waste water seepage issue from before, yet with the raised floor, it could be worse than before!

Should Bins Be Barcoded - Good For Mount Druitt and Other Suburbs

I was only thinking of this suggestion today, walking home.  We all have ideas and expressing these ideas may be hard to do, as we look at improvements, in what ever way we can.

My suggestion, is quite easy, Blacktown City Council, must spend a substantial amount of money on providing Sulo bins to the community and businesses.  A lot of it could be lost or warn out bins. When it comes to bins, if someone has stolen any of your bins, you would have a request for a replacement Sulo bin. 

By placing bar codes on these bins, bins can be scanned around the neighbourhood; checking for possible whereabouts and indetifying how mutch household waistes per household.

Oh,well that was easy, the hard bit would be to assessing the right result and analsying all information. We need input from players to make it possibly, to reach the right answers.

Travelling Train Whispers......From A St Marys Commuter!

It is so good that people people I speak too, are mostly strangers and by speaking to strangers, you can either leave them feeling, sad, bad, happy or eager to talk to yourself again. If I don't see them again, we have strike a conversation that may have sparked  further conversation or even in my case, a published blog.

Today, it was a tense situation that I spoke to a really tired St Marys Train Commuter, who catches trains from Circular Quay to work. It looked like, she wished it 'was Friday today', or is this weeks case, 'Wednesday'. The issue was a non-issue. She allowed myself to sit on the window side of a train carriage seat (I always wonder, why people don't move from the center of the seat to the window, to allow people to sit down), yet 'When asked which train station she was getting off?' with a reply from her as, 'It doesn't matter!' Which is quite right, when I think about it!

So as we made great conversation, this wonderful lady commuter from St Marys suggested that on days like today, when Sydney Trains used Saturday Time tables with extra services for Peak Times, they should charge Saturday/Weekend rates. The time tables for trains from 29/12/14 to and including 2/1/2015 is Saturday time tables as a lot of businesses and government departments have reduce staff levels.

The suggestion from the St Marys Commuter lady is a good idea as it means possibly Sunday rates of $2.50 could be charged in this end of year season, which would  financially assist commuters in and around Mount Druitt.

How Blogging Can Work - Amazing! 'Stop Sign' Replaced!

 Just over questing a month ago,  I published a blog on behalf of the North Mount Druitt Community, requesting to replace a 'Stop Sign in Methven Street, North Mount Druitt'.
Guess what, with out talking, publishing bogs make a major difference to improvements in and around the community, so now the phrase of 'Action speaks louder than words' is overtaken by 'blogging speaks louder than speaking word!'


Yes, blogging works, if used in a proper manner and the proper results will come. Also respecting people for who they are and for what they represent, complimenting them when improvements are made or completed.

So, thank you to the Mayor of Blacktown City Council and the Councillors, Officers of Council  is communicating with relevant other government bodies whether  local, state or federal, in making in improvement. No matter how small or how big the improvement required is and completed the community appreciate it and are the winners as well!

Merry Christmas To All People In Mount Druitt And All Mount Druitt Stake Holders That Make The Improvements For Us!

This is a time of the year, families meet families, families given and take gifts celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Although mostly Christians celebrate Christmas, there may be other religions joining in.

Children will have Santa drop overnight and provide wonderful gifts to all little children that are anxiously waiting for their annual rewards. We all have to remember that as adults, when we were young, Santa looked after us, so it is up to the next younger generation to be looked after!

One of The First In Mount Druitt With Pensioner Opal Card - Allan From Blackett!

About a month ago Allan from Blackett, applied for his Pensioner Opal Card- he has since never regretted it. He was so proud in showing it to myself that I was so proud to take this photo of him.

In fact, there are a lot of people I am proud of and each for the kind of person they all are. Having pride in your community and the people in your community, makes it such a better life  for everyone. It can bring more peace and harmony within the community.

Allan, says it makes trips quicker and as a pensioner, he doesn't have any issues using, unless sometimes the E-Reader on the buses sometimes doesn't work. Although there are a lot of people still not using Opal Cards, slowly but slowly, they will in turn 'Go with the flow'! Allan recommends all pensioners to apply for the Pensioner Opal Card, so that  more buses can run on time and then more commuters will be at there destination on time!

William Mason Reserve, North Mount Druitt Sulo Bin Gone And Now More Mess Left Around!

One day recently, a Sulo bin had been placed, tied to a pole in William Mason Reserve, North Mount Druitt. It was an extremely good idea, as it made the community make the make cleaner by not dumping rubbish in the Park.

Now the William Mason Reserve is getting filled with more rubbish, now the bin is not there and makes it a more costly event for Blacktown City Council to  provide regular cleaning up programs.

Maybe Council was trialing the Sulo Bin and it didn't work or they are working on other methods to make this community public park kept clean! We will see what happens from here on in.

Councillor Charlie Lowles Still Batting For The Community for Granny Flat Law To Be Changed!

Whalan Granny Flat appears to be great but I wouldn't use this builder. It turned out to be a few errors that occurred and a few minor changes, which were obvious to others.

If you have been following us, you would have known that the Whalan Granny approved by the NSW Professional

Builders Board, which we found out they don't hep the community they only help their own-kind "Builders". Then, we also found Blacktown City Council had 'No say' to this development application, no community consultant or feedback from a from NSW legislation passed in 2004.

Councillor Charlie Lowles from Ward 5 is still batting for the community in relation to continuing to change laws in Blacktown City Council and with his NSW State Government colleagues to alter the laws so granny flats cannot be built in the front of house property only! Good on you Charlie this makes sense!

So why I wouldn't use this builder for the following reasons:

See how the tap  is not aligned to the drain!

Check the the electrical cables near the fence boundary!

• $80,000 Cost - too much money to spend: 2 bedroom kitchen, dining room shared shower and laundry -
• tap front not lined up to front drain
• There was no side gate in front, it was all fenced off reaching the side of the house allowing outside access until a neighbor mentioned to the builder and organized gate side access. 
• Electrical wires going from granny flat property into the behind property, exposed into the ground. Health and safety issues: say a lawn mover goes over it, it could be an electrical shock, potential accident and potential death. The risks are high!
• Back walk way entry is from the neighbouring house from same property not from the street
• There is an over supply of incorrectly measured and unable to fit windows and security doors. I hope that this costs the builder a lot of money!

All the above was approved and allowed by the NSW Professional Building Board (except the cost). How professional are they?

I also believe that the rental return for the grannyflat will be  $270 per week and the house on same land block rental return is $300 per week.

We Applaud Westfield Mount Druitt For Opening Santas Workshop!

A lot of costs have gone into  setting up a Santa workshop for the children of Mount Druitt. I'm not too sure if there is usually supervision there (there didn't seem to be when I walk past yesterday), but I believe the young children can do activities to keep themselves occupied. I don't know if Mum and Dad can go shopping and pick up children there later! This is near the Center Court.

This might even be used as a drop off centre if parents want to 'shop without children' (for a small fee), after Christmas - a limit of two hours leaving children there under supervision! A Suggestion for Westfield Mount Druitt Management!

Mount Druitt Community Invited To Christmas Day Lunch.....

They say the community lives within its own heart and to making the heart pump is its people. When are community groups and churches offering free lunches, this is a good gesture to assist the people of the community to  make Christmas Day a memorial and enjoyable day.

Here I am walking from Westfield Mount Druitt to Shennan Way via the Traffic light pedestrian phase walk at Luxford Road, North Mount Druitt, from south to north.

Mount Druitt People Poor Out Peace, Love and Harmony....

As one representatives that stand up on behalf of the people of Mount Druitt, we grieve, offer our condolences to the hostages that died, to their families and friends that are grieving of their loss of loved ones, in relation to the tragic 'Martin Place Siege', taken place on 15th December 2014.

We also take this opportunity to pray for eternal peace, love and forever understanding as we all come to grips with the events that happened, that ended in the lost lives. Moved by this, we offer very strong positive spiritual comfort and wishes to the hostages that survived, all the Sydney City workers and tourists that were  stunned with the events that had happened, police officers and all emergency services, NSW Premier and NSW Police Commissioner, Australian Prime Minister and Federal Opposition

It is hard to believe that a p eaceful place, country, state and city  were totally shocked with the events that happened. This is where we were all confused, in disbelief and worried of the outcome of the hostage crisis. Now it is over, we must not be judges or jurors on the results of the outcome.

Questions may be raised or how and why and maybe how come, yet we all will want the right answers to be found. Our thoughts from here is always be vigilant, aware of any incidents like this that may occur in the future. We all hope and pray this never happens, anywhere at anytime at anyplace!

In Mount Druitt, we live in a multicultural community and society. We open our doors to the rest of the world, who are hoping for a freedom of life we all have and share, keeping within ourselves internal peace, love and harmony. We also pray we treat our very own neighbours as great as we respect each family member and friends of ours.
