Australian Korean Monument In R.A.A.F. Reserve Mount Druitt ' whyilovemountdruitt Face Book Page

The new Australian Korean monument in the *R.A.A.F. reserve Mount Druitt. Bounded by Carlisle Avenue, Woodstock Avenue and Belmore Avenue , with some off street parking in Belmore avenue. A new drinking tap is also located in the grass pathway leading to the monument. All we need now are native gardens from both counties . Personally I am very proud to see this. Such a fabulous gesture of good will and a book mark to part of our true history. The photos were just taken at random and placed in no special order or edited.

R.A.A.F Memorial Park - Needs Urgent Attention on Ants (Possible Termite Mounds)

It seems a mound of ants - (possibly termites) are consuming a natural Australian tree at R.A.A.F Memorial Park, Mount Druitt. Although, mother nature is taking things in her own hands, happening naturally, it is exttemely worrying to know that this could spread out to our wider residential houses around the area.

We all understand how termites can eat into timber, make it rotten and destroy it. If a house is declared unsafe because of its termites infested termites it may present a situation where the entire house may have to be replaced, after treatment.

That presents a headache to its owner whether it be privately owned or by NSW Housing and even land owned currently with Council

I personally hope Blacktown City Council can intervene and rid these ants mounds especially if they termintes. I noticed Ron a Face Book member of 'whyilovemountdruitt' privides us the following photos:

Image may contain: tree, outdoor and natureImage may contain: tree, plant, outdoor and nature

You will notice another mound of possible termites but not around a tree. I'm just thinking, could these ants attack tree after tree at the R.A.A.F. Memorial Park and there was none?

Grass Fire At RAAF Memmorial Park,Mount Druitt - Last Sunday Week

I have only see a fire on land only, once before and this one, sent shivers down my spine.

At The R.A.A.F. Memorial Park, Mount Druitt, last week I returned on foot by myself from the Memorial Service for Charlie Lowles Emerton and decided to walk home. It is good exercise. As I reached R.A.A.F Memorial Park, Mount Druitt, I noticed smoke coming out of the bush, on the western end. I called the Emergency Fire and Rescue and was advised they were aware of it and had a crew heading there.

Although as I approach 2 Police Officers, were watching with caution, until the Fire and rescue arrived, until the grass fire was  put out.

Distance Markings Along The Walking Track In THE RAAF Memorial Park, Mount Druit - Can Not Be Agreed By Blacktown City Council

A concept of having distance markers along the footpath tracks at R.A.A.F. Memorial Park, Mount Druitt suggested by Ron Vorbach from 'whyilovemountdruitt' Face book Group cannot not be agreed on. Blacktown City Council suggests of budget reasons, being not having future funds to cover maintenance costs of these markers in the park and could set a precedence for other Parks and Reserves  within Blacktown City Council local government area, to add further costs.

The idea is a great idea as it could create more walkers, joggers and runners and interest to become more healthy. Especially if  promoted properly. The increase of community members using the park would not be significant in the early stages (my guess), but could generate more community members to use this walking, jogging and running track in the mid to long term time range.

Should the Council not have funds for this they may be able to seek State or Federal Governments funding. Distance Markers are a great way to track how much distance you have exercised and is a great community tool to help keep the community more fit. If not, they may be able to ways to fund this and the maintenance of - maybe the markers could be like the line markers on shared cycle ways, we have within our local government area.

This can be placed on the drawing board, every  thought and initiative by the community is not wasted.

Mayor Stephen Bali Listens To left Tree Debris at R.A.A.F. Memorial Park, Mount Druitt

Great response from Mayor, Stephen Bali, Blacktown City Council on Storm Damage trees at  R.A.A.F. Memorial Park, Mount Druitt, which is a 'Wellness Park".

If anyone tells me that no one listens to people, I will definitely  defend our local Councillors, State Members and federal Members, who listen, have their say, follow up and get things done!

So we had a storm that ravaged our area earlier in January, this year and  swept across Mount Druitt pockets of areas and caused  massive trees falling, some damaged roofs, leaking and sunken ceilings and fallen trees on houses. Click here for the post on the January storm

It is  good news that on 21st June the appropriate fall trees will be removed and also the appropriate trees will remain, to fit in with  the  natural environment.  I was aware that it may cater for the endangered Cumberland Snail.  Click here for Details on Endangered Cumberland Snail

Time and time again, this proves that  the right people are notified and react positively, Thank you,Mr. Mayor.

After The Storm RAAF Memmorial Park, Mount Druitt, Trees Need To Be Removed....

It has been more than 4 months after the severe storm, Mount Druitt received in January 2016.

Most people have gone over this incident and  a majority of business are 'Back In  Business'. Yet, we tend to have Parks and Reserves not been fully cleaned up, in relation to loose tree trunks left on the  ground.

In RAAF Memorial Park, Mount Druitt this is the case and this needs to be attended too, so that it appears in it's natural look as it was before the storm happened.

If we have visitors to the area, then 'we need to clean our act' or this  case our environment, this is so it is left in its beautiful natural state and we can enjoy it the  bit of nature we have in the area.
After, speaking to a few residents in the area, they agree as well and wonder why it has taken that long to do so.

R.A.A.F. Memorial Park - Bush Care Group - Great Idea - This Should Also Be For Other Parks/ Reserves As Well!

If you live close and have time join this bushcare group, you will play an important community role in assisting to preserve the wonderful nature of animals and plants that this park presents. Then help our community, assist our Blacktown City Council and have that personal pride that we all want to have in keeping our area in a great state.

I know that Council has different groups with Blacktown local government area and I find it pleasing that they have included parts of Mount Druitt. May I suggest that this could be offered to other park and/or reserves within  Mount Druitt areas, as well and I am sure more community members will take care of their community parks and reserves.

This was provided from Ron, member of  'whyilovemountdruitt' Face Book Group:

Botanic Gradens Required By Mount Druitt Community Members At R.A.A.F. Memorial Park,

Local Parks and Reserves should be recreational open spaces and areas for the entirely community to walk, run and enjoy its Australian bush and native plant surroundings.

Whilst we do have quite a large population within Blacktown LGA  (over 330,000) and in Mount Druitt approximately over 90,000 based on Australian Bureau of  Statistics and my assumption of Mount Druitt and surrounding areas Click here

We also have so many Parks and quite a few Reserves that  provide ample open space for recreational activities for community members. What is missing that is a complimentary Botanical Garden that is required as an additional recreational open space that would be fully enjoyed by Mount Druitt community members and the wider community. If  planned and constructed well, this could well be a bright spot tourists to attend and showcase the world our local beauty.

We all want Mount Druitt to be beautified in such a way that there would be so much community pride and a positive promotion of our home place to be spread throughout the world.

So to look at places around Mount Druitt, the ideal, logical and heart of Mount Druitt choice is the R.A.A.F Memorial Park in Mount Druitt. It is on its own block of land, two thirds of open space with fitness track, picnic areas and its own lake, the  remaining third is bush track walking as if you are in a natural bush. It is surrounded by Woodstock Avenue, Belmore Avenue, Druitt Street and Carlisle Avenue and has buses along Carlisle and Belmore Avenue to assist  is providing commuters access to this location.

Image result for botanical gardens cartoonAs one of the largest parks within the hub of Mount Druitt, we have the local community calling for this  park to be made into a great Botanic garden. This would mean that for local community members, not only would they fit by walking or running, they will be able to enjoy the scenic views  of colourful flowers, plants and trees as well as natural wildlife has in all Mount Druitt gardens. Parents and children could relax and have picnics alongside beautifully scented flowers and admire also the beautiful  environment.

We have many posts from Ron from Whalan, who has spoken to community members who claim that:

From local people I get to talk to as I photograph there flowers, suggesting to them the thought of that reserve becoming a garden, makes them ever so happy. If I was a council official wanting office in future elections, taking note of this entry would do them well. Joining me on a photo patrol could also bring them some votes. Just a thought.

Further points from Ron from Whalan:

First spring walk through the R.A.A.F Reserve for 2015. How I would like to see this converted in to a botanic garden and also have distance markers . So many people I assume are diabetics use this reserve every day of the year. Still needs pedestrian crossings to. It is your Park, Your asset.

We do think that for Ward 4 and 5 Blacktown City Councillors running for general election in about this time in 2016, this could be a winning improvement to get on the planning, budget proposal and finally  completed as 'Work In Progress'. Maybe the General Manager of Blacktown City Council can get the ball rolling in the meantime. Maybe the newly elected Mayor - tomorrow night may also take it on!

Botanic Gardens To Be Upgraded Request At R.A.A.F. Memorial Park, Mount Druitt - Face Book Group Checkout Beautiful Pictures!

Again, Ron one of our active and prominent members of  our 'whyilovemountdruitt face book group'  has got his mind really thinking proudly of Mount Druitt. I wonder how the Councillors and Council Officers will be scratching their head, working out 'Why aren't they thinking of this!' Also why are they not thinking of a pedestrian crossing between Bulolo Drive, Whalan and entrance to the Park?

R.A.A.F Memmorial Park, Mount Druitt - Cleaning Up Required - Face Book Group Request!

Ron from Whalan has been posting a dirty and unclean R.A.A.F Memorial Park that is totally disgusting and needs vital cleanup. To check the video, join the whyilovemountdruitt Face Book Group, unless you already are and check the post dated 27th August 2015.

"Tried emailing this one direct to Blacktown Council for hopeful urgent action but my email keeps crashing. This is after the Park had not long been cleaned. Another video to follow better showing its location and another danger."

Click here for whyilovemountdruitt face book group

Here is a broken bottles in water as well (Ron from Whalan) and it's photo also at R.A.A.F Memorial Park, Mount Druitt, which needs to be attended too as well. Ron calls it 'Beer Bottle Lake'!

Make I ask that Blacktown City Council considers having more inspections on the site and if fines need to be provided to the community, to make people understand, so be it! Even better, let us know what the fines are also place notice around the park with how much the fines are for pollution!

Re: WILMD

As pointed out to you,I am a WARD FIVE councillor and have been for 26 years.
I walk often in the RAAF Memorial Park.A park I helped to create many years ago.
This was to honour the servicemen of the 22nd Repair Squadron of the RAAF who were based there during World War Two .
Regarding the trees being removed from the above park.
As many of the users of the park would know there was a great number of DEAD trees in the park.
That posed a threat to users.
These trees were infected by Lerpes which is killing off a huge number of trees in what is left of the Cumberland Plain. Woodland.
We are told the plains will recover in time, and they are trying to eradicate the pests that spread it and Remove the dead trees and bury the waste.
We have been informing the public about the situation for some time ...
Thank you for the opportunity to Inform you of the situation.
Clr Charlie Lowles OAM.
WARD 5 councillor.

Pedestrian Crossings Required in Local Community Park In Mount Druitt

A local Park our Council spent big Dollars on. Attracts a lot of people including children , It is surrounded by 4 very busy roads and yet no pedestrian crossing on any of the roads. Bus stops either side , heavily used by school children.

The above photo and below request is from a community member called Ron  - who has provided this photo to myself 24th March 2014. I have  held this back until I realised it hasn't been posted on this blogspot. Apologies to Ron!

A local Park our Council spent big Dollars on. Attracts a lot of people including children , It is surrounded by 4 very busy roads and yet no pedestrian crossing on any of the roads. Bus stops either side , heavily used by school children.

For community people that doesn't know where this park is, is The R.A.A.F Memorial Park. We will see if we can get pedestrian crossings to reach the park. from  at least 2 out of 4 streets leading into it! The major streets are Carlisle Avenue, Woodstock Road, Belmore Avenue and would you believe Druitt Street.

My proposal would be to have a pedestrian crossing at the  entrance to the park on Carlisle Avenue or at the corner of Woodstock Road and Carlisle Avenue the other one  could be  corner of Bulolo Drive and Belmore Avenue or further down corner of Belmore Avenue and Woodstock Road.

What do you think? We will raise this with  Blacktown City Council and get back to you!

R.A.A.F Memorial Park - Fitness Park!

The R.A.A.F. Memorial Park, Mount Druitt is a great fitness park - that could set a e precedent in local parks and  gardens around Mount Druitt suburbs and within Blacktown City Council, it has 2  looping  walking, jogging, running and cycling paths, picnic areas, and multiple types of fitness activities to do, whilst going around the track.

It doesn't seem like other park around the area are following suit and this  could be based on the way Council deals with matters, referred to by Councillors.
